Born as Aliaume Damala Badara Akon Thiam in St. Louis, Missouri, USA on April 16, 1973, Akon is the son of Kine Gueye Thiam and Mor Thiam. His brother is music producer Abou Thiam. He claimed to have had six children with six different women. He has worked valiantly to protect his family from media attention.
